As chief executive and academic officer of the School of Business, the new dean will provide vision and strategic direction for VSB, one that continues to advance the School as a place of excellence in both teaching and research, increasing VSB’s impact as it produces leaders who drive positive change wherever they go. The new dean will enjoy strong collaborations across the Villanova community and the opportunity to cultivate and maintain deep and meaningful connections with alumni, donors and the external business community. VSB’s next dean will continue the realization of a more diverse and inclusive faculty and student body, advancing the Catholic and Augustinian identity of the University. They will engage and empower a strong administrative unit as well as an outstanding faculty and staff, bringing a student-centered approach and an enjoyment both of advancing their school and contributing to an institution-wide leadership team on behalf of the University.

The next dean of the Villanova School of Business must bring a record of academic and/or industry achievement that will garner the respect of the faculty. The new dean will have experience in administrative leadership and will be a community-building, strategic leader with the ability to engage diverse constituents in imagining the future of business education and leveraging the University’s strengths. The dean should demonstrate inspiring leadership qualities including an unwavering focus on student success, the ability to listen deeply and inclusively, and a record of decisive action and effective execution. Additionally, the new dean should have the ability to form strong relationships with alumni, donors and corporate partners that engage each in the success and well-being of VSB.

Strong preference will be given to individuals who possess a terminal degree in a relevant field and a demonstrated record of successful teaching and scholarship suitable to warrant an appointment to the VSB faculty; in addition, some corporate leadership experience is desirable. Candidates with significant leadership experience outside of academia will also be considered if they demonstrate significant knowledge, experience and/or support of teaching and scholarly achievement that will garner the respect of the VSB community.
